CFD++ Applications to Full Commercial Airplanes

Some of our customers are using CFD++ to compute the flowfield around full commercial airplane geometries:

  • Geometries include

    • Flaps and slats deployed

    • Wings include Winglets (more vortex shedding)

    • Full Tail Configuration

    • With engine power turned on

  • Prism + Tetrahedral Meshes with 55 million points

  • CFD++ takes 300 iterations to converge (5 orders of residual magnitute)

  • Use over 80 cpu's with less then 7 hours wall clock time for convergence

  • Using K-Epsilon-Rt turbulence model developed by Metacomp

  • Results match wind tunnel data very well

  • CFD++ used with confidence, Launch Once/Compute Once
