Hybrid RANS/LES Capability in CFD++:
 

 

 

Due to the high cost of conventional LES and uncertainties in its near-wall treatment, Metacomp Technologies, Inc.[1] has developed a hybrid approach which blends automatically between conventional RANS and LES according to local grid density. The animation on the right shows the latent sub-grid turbulence energy from the hybrid RANS/LES simulation of low-speed flow around a square cylinder.
